Summer Programming

Coronavirus & Summer Programming

The pandemic has brought about a lot of uncertainty for every aspect of our normal society. At this time, summer camps are one of those uncertainties. The governor’s order of not holding school and early childhood programs runs through at least June 29th. This overlaps with our proposed start date for camps. Each summer we operate our camp under a license from the Westborough Board of Health. It remains to be seen what new regulations will be required of those wishing to obtain a camp license this year, but even more so, it is uncertain as to whether any camp licenses will be issued this summer at all. For these reasons, we are sad to say we have decided to forgo a summer camp season at The Westboro Learning Center for Summer 2020.

Little Sprout Camp at the Treehouse at WLC

Our Little Sprout Camp is our toddler-preschool summer program. It is an enrichment program where children can enjoy the outdoors and nature in our playground, experiment with water and ice in our outdoor sensory tables and enjoy hands-on activities, crafts, music, and stories in our air-conditioned classrooms. All the activities for this camp are carefully planned with the “first time” camper in mind.

Treehouse Camp at WLC

Our Treehouse Camp is the perfect camp for children in preschool through first grade. It is an enrichment program where children will explore nature and the outdoors on our playground, by using the outdoor sensory tables for some fun hands on activities. Campers will also utilize our air conditioned classroom space for crafts, music, movement & more!

Both Little Spouts and Treehouse Camp will explore a new theme each week, with a fun & exciting theme-launch “Special Event” on Mondays! Is your child not signed up to attend on Monday? No Problem! Any child enrolled in other days for that week may attend the theme-launch “Special Event” on Monday with a parent or caregiver.

Camps will run 9:00 AM-12:00 PM during all summer sessions. You can choose an enrollment option that fits your child’s and family’s needs: 2 days, 3 days or 5 days per week, with extended hours options available!

School Age Summer Programs

Art Camp (entering grades 1-4)

Do you have a budding young artist at home, or a child that just loves to do arts and crafts? Our Art Camp will be the perfect fit! Our Art Camp will explore various materials, approaches and artists, with multiple media types being used each session/week. It is designed for children of all abilities, entering grades 2-5. Our art instructor, Laura Buchanan, is a highly qualified/certified art teacher with experience in teaching both art in both a camp setting and a school setting.

Our Art Camp will run 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM (Sessions 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, & 8).

Enrolled campers may also register for our Early Drop-Off, Lunch Bunch or Afternoon Stay and Play programs if extended care is needed.

STEM Camp (entering grades 1-4)

STEM education is an interdisciplinary approach to learning. It integrates the four disciplines of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics into relevant but fun activities meant to build and sustain interest as well as establish foundational knowledge in young children.

STEM dates are currently TBA.

Enrolled campers may also register for our Early Drop-Off, Lunch Bunch or Afternoon Stay and Play programs if extended care is needed.

Theater Camp (entering grades 1-4)

Our Theater Camp is designed for children entering grades 1-4. Our theater program is a “processed based” program.  This means that the camp will focus on the theatre process, improv, acting skills, singing and dancing with and without music tracks without the pressure of a large production at the end of camp.  Rather, we host a small “showcase “ of accomplishments. Our experience has shown that the children learn a lot about theater through this approach with out any anxiety and truly shine at the end!

Our Theater Camp will run 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Sessions 4 & 8 as part of a Fine Arts Week for our School aged campers.  Parents can choose to send their children to just the afternoon theater, or all day with the Art Camp session in the morning!

Session 4:  July 13-17: “It’s a Jungle Out There!” (musical)

Session 8:  Aug. 10-14:  “Lemonade!” (musical)

Mind-Body Wellness Yoga Camp & Lego Adventure Camp (grades 1-4)

TBA – Please check back for updates.

Children enrolled in our morning camps who need all day care can sign up for our Afternoon Stay and Play program. These children will participate in our Lunch Bunch program (social lunch and recess) followed by a quiet time (books, puzzles, listening to music, etc.). The afternoon will then be filled with more fun activities, games and outdoor time.

Afternoon Extended day will be on a pre-registration basis and will run from the close of our full day camps at
